Help Us Fight Cancer and Save Our Home Hello, my name is Tony and I’m reaching out with a very heavy heart for my husband Gavin, myself, and our little girl, Veda Joan. Gavin is not just a husband and father — he is our protector, our light, and our hero. He has been battling cancer for over two and a half years, and recently, our family was hit with devastating news that has left us overwhelmed emotionally, physically, and financially. In December, we were told by Gavin’s oncologist that his PET scan showed he was “cancer free.” We left that appointment with hope and relief, only to have that hope taken from us just days later. When we met with the surgeon, we were told the opposite — the cancer had not only returned but had spread. The misdiagnosis shattered our trust and left us heartbroken. On March 3rd Gavin had a 14.5hr surgery resulting in having his bladder, prostate and rectum removed and permanently having a Colostomy and Ostomy bags and major reconstruction of his complete back side of his body. Since then, Gavin’s condition has worsened and now at stage 4 cancer. He is now on long-term disability, and just recently, he has been back in the hospital. Despite everything, Gavin continues to fight with so much courage and love for us. But the reality is that while we battle cancer, we are also battling mounting bills, daily expenses, and the fear of losing our home. Our Struggle • Gavin has been unable to work, and I’ve been trying to hold everything together as his caregiver and full-time dad to our baby. • We’ve fallen behind on our mortgage by several months and are terrified of foreclosure, even though our home is where our daughter feels safe and where Gavin deserves to heal. • Medical bills, co-pays, prescriptions, utilities, and baby needs have piled up to a point that feels impossible to catch up on. Every dollar will go directly to: • Saving our home by paying overdue mortgage bills. • Covering essential utilities so we can keep the lights and heat on. • Paying medical costs and prescriptions not covered by insurance. • Taking care of Veda’s needs so she can have a sense of normalcy during this difficult time. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do — asking for help — but we can’t do this alone. Gavin deserves to focus on healing and spending quality time with us, not worrying about whether we’ll lose everything we’ve built.
